Well folks, it has been a ride and a true pleasure for me. I am closing this blog down, though.
Don't worry, you can still search through all of my pictures, stories, everything. But really this will be my last post on this blog. I have posted on here for years and years and there are hundreds, maybe more than 1000 pictures on this blog plus all sorts of other things.
Even if I go back to Brazil, I will probably post everything on my new blog. This one was mostly created just for my study abroad time in Brazil.
Thanks for the support, the visits, the help, the encouragement, the tips, everything.
Peace out Goon in Brazil.

FINALLY
Pictures from Rio!
There are 20 of the 79 pictures that I took in Rio. Hope you enjoy!
View from Júlio's house.
The church where the Candelaria massacre happened.
Inside the church.
Again inside the church.
Paintings, each one representing one of the children that died.
The plaque outside memorializing the kids. If I could see what it said I'd translate it.
Inside a government building.
Caroline outside a government building.
Women on the beach.
Me in the water.
Sidewalk.
Favela.
Tunnel, this thing is very long, not for the claustrophobic person.
Graffiti on an underpass.
Júlio, me, Caroline, Júlio's son.
Caroline outstretched arms.
Zack buddy Jesus.
Getting Jesus from behind.
Monkey in a tree.
Some awesome sculpture outside Júlio's house.

Just a small update
I was going to post my final pictures from Salvador, but then I realized that I already posted all of them. So the only pictures that are left are from Rio.
I would post those, but my computer is fubared. Actually, it's not totally fubared, but it got really screwed up somehow. I had to buy an external HD to keep all of my information and then it got sent off to get fixed. I should have it back in about five days, at which point I'll be able to upload all of my pictures from Rio.
After the pictures from Rio, I have no idea what I'll do with this blog. Obviously I'll keep it up for people who still want to come and look at the pictures and read the stuff I've posted, but I don't know what I'll be using it for after that.
Anyway, that's all for now. I will post the Rio pictures as soon as I get my computer back. Until then, Peace.

More pictures from Salvador
In my continuing quest to draw this process out as long as possible, here are some more pictures.
Acarajé. It's truly great stuff. Deep-fried bean flour stuffed with pepper, shrimp com casca, and some other stuff. It's awesome.
As you can see, I am enjoying mine.
Just a few shots of the beach.
Caroline chillaxin' on the beach in Barra (pronounced like Baja, which now that I think about it, I don't even know what it means.)
I know I shouldn't have taken these pictures.
But she was blocking the sunset! I swear!
The beach after the sun has gone down.
Açai. I remember calling in to the Two Guys Named Chris telling them about Açaí. They pronounced it "a-kai". It's some great stuff and it sucks that there are so many things in Brazil that I love but can't have here. Açaí, acarajé, cararu, etc. Damn.
Caroline enjoying some açaí.
The Farol da Barra, or, Barra Lighthouse.
Again.
Again.
And one last shot of Caroline.
I still have something like 200 pictures left to put up here. I will start posting them in batches of 20 since it seems to take me forever to get pictures up here. Hopefully those of you still coming here are enjoying these last few sets of pictures. Who knows when I'll get back down to Brazil, although I'm hoping it's in May or June of next year. Peace for now.

More pictures from Salvador
Here are a few more pictures from Salvador. Twelve of them I think. As always, captions with the ones I think need them.
Pictures from the actual Cidade Baixa, that I talked about below. It really is kind of a different world down there, especially when compared to the energy of the Pelourinho.
And some more from the elevator that goes from the Pelô to the Cidade Baixa.
These last three are the popular shots of the Pelourinho at night.
Well, that's it for now. I will have more pictures up soon enough, so don't get your panties in a wad.
Peace.

Pictures from Salvador
These are only 10 of the 154 pictures I took in Salvador. Enjoy them! There will be more to come soon!
Some shots of where we stayed at in Salvador. We stayed with Marcos, Fernanda, and Marcos' daughter Marcela.
Just another shot.
Feral dogs all over the damn place.
Group playing drums in the Pelourinho.
And the most famous shot there is of the Pelourinho.
These next few shots are of the Lower City, or, "Cidade Baixa." It can be seen in the movie, appropriately titled, "Cidade Baixa", starring Lázaro Ramos and Wagner Mouro.
Some of these shots were taken from an elevator that goes up diagonally, from Cidade Baixa to the Pelourinho. The elevator is more than 100 years old but is still in perfect condition.
And a nice artsy B&W photo.
And a statue of a "Baiana." These women serve some bomb acarajé. Definitely try some, "com pimenta" if you're ever in Salvador.
Well, that's all for now. I guess I have about 144 more from Salvador and 95 from Rio. I'll have those up shortly, probably by the end of the month or mid-August. So stay tuned. After that, I have no idea what direction this blog will go in, but I'll figure out something to do with it.
Peace.
